Our vision is to place African cinema on the global stage. Not as a novelty, but as a legitimate and powerful force in world culture. Our mission is to produce authentic African films that tell compelling stories and engage audiences both locally and internationally.

Watch TrailerBorn and raised in Rivers State, Nigeria, Khalil is a Lagos-based filmmaker and engineer. Formally trained as an Electrical/Electronic Engineer at Cardiff University, Wales, he chose to pursue a career in film after spending his university years seeking solace and inspiration from cinema.
A multidisciplinary filmmaker versed in production, directing, screenwriting, and montage, Khalil has had his work screened across Nigeria to widespread acclaim. He founded Awani Productions in 2024 with the aim of redefining African narratives through film.
